Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Theme: Journey to the Home of Mountain Gorillas
Early pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe by your professional Afriquest Travels driver-guide.
Enjoy a scenic drive through central and southwestern Uganda with a stop at the Uganda Equator for memorable photographs, souvenir shopping, and an optional coffee break. Continue through rolling hills, traditional villages, and beautiful countryside.
Lunch in Mbarara City.
Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing spectacular mountain scenery and terraced hillsides before arriving at your lodge.
Spend the evening relaxing while overlooking the rainforest and receive a briefing from your guide about the following day’s gorilla trekking adventure.
Overnight: Bwindi (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga or Nkuringo sector depending on your gorilla permit)

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Theme: Face to Face with the Gentle Giants
Begin the day with an early breakfast before transferring to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for registration and a ranger briefing.
Your experienced ranger guides will lead you into Bwindi’s ancient rainforest in search of one of the habituated mountain gorilla families.
The trek can last anywhere between two and five or more hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Along the way, enjoy sightings of unique birds, butterflies, forest vegetation, and other wildlife.
Once the gorillas are located, spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat as they feed, groom, play, and care for their young. This close encounter is considered one of Africa’s greatest wildlife experiences.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Take a guided boat ride across the calm waters of Lake Bunyonyi while learning about its fascinating history and visiting famous islands, including Punishment Island (Akampene).
